How can I join the Association?
You can join the Association by becoming a member. Click the “Register as a Member” button at the top of the page.
What activities or events does Te Ukaipo organize?
We run a range of events throughout the year including regular meetings and one off events. Our main events for the year include:

  • Monthly social meet on the first Saturday of each month at Bolton Point hall
  • Matariki celebrations in-line with the NZ public holiday (around June/July each year)
  • Annual Christmas Party
  • Monthly social coffee club
  • Bi-monthly rangatahi (teenage/youth) events
  • Weekly kapahaka practice during the school term at Lake Macquarie High School

Who can join the Association?
Our Association is open to anyone wishing to join. We highly encourage Maori in the local area to join our group. Note that all applications for membership are subject to approval by the committee.
Can I support the Association even if I'm not a member?
Yes, absolutely. We have a range of social, cultural, and welfare events that are open to non-members and those with an interest in te ao Maori. We do ask that regular attendance is followed up with an application to join the Assocation.

What does your kapahaka group involve?
We hold regular weekly kapahaka practice at Lake Macquarie High School. Our performing group is involved in regular performances including community events, birthdays, celebrations, and commercial events. All members are welcome to attend our regular practice sessions to learn and grow, and in-time join our performing group.
Can your performing group perform at my next event?

Can you assist with cultural presentations or collaborations?
Yes, pending on the specific requirements. Please contact us to discuss.
Are there any job or volunteer opportunities available with the Association?
Yes! We are always on the lookout for supportive people that would like to contribute to our Associations aspirations. Please contact us directly to discuss further.
Is the Association affiliated with any other organizations or groups?
Yes, we have supported a number of local community organisations over the years. We are regular participants at a number of community events in Lake Macquarie and Maitland, and we perform annually at local ANZAC Day and Remembrance Day services.
